Cooking Party!

Was invited by Charlene, whom I met at FIUTS lunch, to her new house for a cooking party today. Menu of the day: cornbread with chili! (A supposedly authentic American dish.) The chili isn't spicy at all, although Kim claims that it is, and it's actually more of a stew consisting of beef, beans, capsicum and tomato. The cornbread was quite tasty and easy to make too. I had a great time there, just chatting, eating and getting to know everybody. It was a good mix of graduate students, ESL students, exchange students (us) and working people. It just seemed pretty easy to talk to everyone there, and I spent most of dinner time talking to Lisa and Jasmin, who are both Koreans.

(L-R) Me, Sabine (from Bavaria!), Yuki, Peiwen, Masako, Jan (from Taiwan), Hillary (Taiwan too) and Huishan.

Was quite tempted to try talking to Sabine in German but didn't have the courage to. Haha. Will attempt to next time.

Lisa and Elly (both Koreans - there are so many Koreans in Seattle!)

With Jan.

With Jasmin - a really fun person to talk to.

With Masako, who was quite surprised when I said my favourite japanese food was agedashi tofu, gyoza and salmon teriyaki (apparently most people say sushi). Another fun person to talk to.

Hehe I know my t-shirt looks kind of crummy and all but I didn't want to dirty my nice tops. =P
