Potluck!

We had a potluck today with the UW Singapore Students Association and 3 NUS students on exchange here at the UW. Actually they sort of invited themselves by sending us a mass mail on Wednesday and suggesting everything. And there were Taiwanese in the SSA, which came as a surprise to me. Well I suppose I won't stop you if you want to think of yourself as a Singaporean. Haha. There were lots of yummy food like pasta, pizza, lima beans, fresh lettuce salad, fried chicken wings, roast chicken (which we forgot to eat and so they took it back =( ), bak kut teh (chicken, not pork), macaroni, chips and even ice-cream (you really should try eating ice-cream in winter, super shiok I tell you). I ate till I burst. And biggest miracle of it all is that today's dinner only cost me USD$1.81!

The only downside was that I had to handwash all my clothes which reeked of the cooking smell because YL was cooking lots of oily food in the 6th floor kitchen. Urgh. It's not worth it using the washing machine here - it costs $1 to wash and $1 to dry, and in winter I don't really have that many clothes to wash because I wear the long john inside so I mostly just wash the long john. I think I'm starting to acclimatize to the weather here though. I no longer feel that cold and I'm wearing less layers of clothing each day. Well I heard that it's going to get colder soon, and the water on the streets will start turning into ice. Just hope it won't be too cold. =)

Still trying to get used to lessons here, but the pace is really too fast for comfort. Guess I shall just have to be very hardworking from the start. After all, I'm here to study right? (Yes Mummy I will study hard, don't worry. Haha!)
